The Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year.

Eminent celebrities to go yachting around

The Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) will celebrate its 20th Anniversary Gala Celebrations on Sunday, May 6, 2018, 6 pm in Manhattan, NY, with grandeur and luxury on the Cornucopia Majesty Yacht, in the gracious presence of eminent celebrities Salman Rushdie, Mira Nair, Madhur Jaffrey, Suketu Mehta, Sarita Chaudhury, Aasif Mandvi, Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, Consulate General of India Sameer Chakravorty, Tracey Jackson as well as other prominent names.

In the previous years the event was attended by Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Hansal Mehta, Rajkumar Rao, Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bhardwaj,  Rishi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Ismail Merchant, James Ivory, Dilp Mehta, Chadha, Deepa Mehta, Manish Dayal, Danny Boyle, Poorna Jaganathan, Sakina Jaffrey, Shyam Benegal, Mani Ratnam, Shonali Bose, Feroz Khan, Om Puri, Mehreen Jabbar, Cary Sawney, Konkana Sen Sharma, Aparna Sen, Adil Hussain, Suman Ghosh, Milind Dhaimade, Alankrita Shrivastav, Mohan Agashe, Nagesh Kukunoor and the list goes on.

The 2018 celebration will include spectacular events. Glamorously attired guests will gather at Pier 81, 39th Street @ West Side Highway, NYC, to board the yacht and celebrate this special occasion with a scrumptious gourmet dinner, dancing, live jazz band, premium bar, live auction, fashion show, photo exhibition of IAAC archival images, and celebrity speeches while sailing around.

IAAC Goals and Objectives:
  • Build an awareness of Indian artistic disciplines in North America.   
  • Raise enough money to be able to sponsor artist's activities.   
  • Function as a central clearing house or funds for artistic disciplines.   
  • Present artistic events in the disciplines.   
  • Promote and build an interested, aware and educated audience.   
  • Act as a service and resource center for Indian art, artists and arts organizations.   
  • Compile directories of artists in each of the artistic disciplines.   
  • Have our own space.   
  • Have regular outreach programs to schools and colleges,   
  • Encourage young artists to present their work.   
  • Create a network for all the various artistic disciplines to share information and ideas.   
  • Foster an exchange of artists and arts related information between India and the United States.

The Indo-American Arts Council is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit, secular service and resource arts organization charged with the mission of promoting and building the awareness, creation, production, exhibition, publication and performance of Indian and cross-cultural art forms in North America. 
The IAAC supports all artistic disciplines in the classical, fusion, folk and innovative forms influenced by the arts of India. They work cooperatively with colleagues around the United States to broaden their collective audiences and to create a network for shared information, resources and funding. 
The focus is to work with artists and arts organizations in North America as well as to facilitate artists and arts organizations from India to exhibit, perform and produce their works there.
